Imported Sun-dried Mulberries from Turkey. What's the popular saying? "Wasn't on my Bingo Card" today, but I'm glad I came across the opportunity to order them!Six 5 oz bags came in the box. The packaging is very nice - would make an attractive display If you happen to have a retail gourmet shop or wine tasting room.I'm used to purple mulberries fresh from the trees in Kansas. These were blonde mulberries, soft and chewy from a resealable pouch. Naturally sweet with no sugar added and low on the glycemic index (good to know if blood sugar numbers are important to you.)The chewy texture reminded me of dried figs - the very best part of a Newton without the cookie wrapping. The seeds aren't bothersome, but add to the experience.A few berries were enough to satisfy my sweet tooth after dinner. The six 5 oz bags may last longer than I expected. These would be good sprinkled on a charcuterie or dessert board, with nuts, soft cheeses and dried apricots added to the menu as well. Maybe a small glass of sherry or port... or Turkish coffee.I could see adding a bag of these to a gourmet gift basket for special friends or a boss, or perhaps a romantic picnic basket to celebrate someone you love.At the current price ($68.60), I don't think they'll be an everyday snack for the kiddos when they come home ravenous from school or sports practice. If you are adventurous and like a bit of pampering yourself, these are a nice treat. I like them very much and appreciate the opportunity to try something new.
